Australia Tourist Visa
Australia has border controls in place to safeguard the health of its citizens. Our travel limitations may change at any time. Please keep up to date on travel restrictions and exemptions. States and territories are in charge of setting and managing quarantine regulations. Check the quarantine requirements for each state or territory.
You will require a valid Australian visa to enter the country unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen. Passport holders from New Zealand can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving the country. You may apply for a variety of Australian visas, including tourist visas and working vacation visas, at your local Australian Embassy or Consulate. You can also apply for some types of visas through the Australian Department of Home Affairs website.
Visa processing arrangements
You cannot come to Australia unless:
-
you are in an exempt category
-
you have been granted an individual exemption to our travel restrictions or
-
you meet Safe Travel Zone requirements.
You must also have a current visa. Visit our website to learn more about your visa possibilities.
Some visa processing processes have been impacted as a result of COVID-19, and applications may take longer to complete. We are prioritising visa applications for travellers who are exempt from our travel restrictions.
You should not finalise your trip plans until you have been given a visa (unless you are a New Zealand citizen).
You may apply for a visa online with ImmiAccount.
If you meet the requirements, you may be able to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) through your mobile device by downloading the Australian ETA app.
Visiting Australia - visa options
You can still apply for an Australian visa, but you may not be allowed to enter the country at this time. Check out the most up-to-date information on travel restrictions and safe zones.
We do not allow you an exemption to go to Australia if we provide you with an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), eVisitor, or Visitor visa. You must apply for a travel exemption and provide proof to back up your claims. Do not travel until we give you permission.
ImmiAccount allows you to apply for a visa online.
